Marker Filtering
This article covers how to set up various types of marker filtering. There are currently three forms of marker filtering that can be used in separately or integrated with any of the other options
The Following Plugin/s need to be installed and active
- WP Go Maps
- WP Go Maps Pro Add-on (optional, but required category or custom field filtering)
The Store locator is a type of filter that allows a user to pick an address and a radius, this results is a filtered set of markers that meet those criteria
For More information regarding setting up your store locator Please see our Store Locatorο»Ώ guide.
Integrating the Store locator feature with other filtering types will be covered in the sections below.
Marker Categorization can be used with both the Store Locator and the Category listing
Categories must be first be setup for your maps/markers. Categories can be created at
WP Go Maps -> Categories
The Category Filter Behaviour can be controlled by navigating to:
WP GO Maps -> Settings -> General Settings
We currently support 2 types of category presentation Dropdown or Checkboxes.
- Dropdown filtering allows the end user to pick one category to filter on
- Checkboxes allows the end user to pick multiple categories to filter on, with a choice of filtering logic
When using Checkboxes, 2 types of filtering logic can be used
- OR (default) - when the end user selects more than one filter to filter on, markers that belong to any of the selected categories will be displayed
- AND - when the end users selects more than one filter to filter on, only markers that belong to all of the selected categories will be displayed
To enable the Category filter on the Store locator, please navigate as follows:
WP Go Maps -> Maps (edit your chosen map) -> Store Locator -> Advanced -> Allow Category selection
To enable the Category filter on the marker listing, please navigate as follows:
WP Go Maps -> maps (edit your chosen map) -> Settings -> Marker Listing -> Filtering -> Category Filter
Note: To ensure accurate filtering the Marker Listing category filter should not be used at the same time as the Store Locator Category filter
To use custom field filtering you would first need to set up some custom fields. Custom fields can be setup by navigating to:
WP Go Maps -> Marker Fields
If you intend filter by custom field, please ensure you select a Filter Type so the plugin knows how to present filtering controls to the end user
To enable custom field filters for your map, please navigate to:
WP Go Maps -> Maps (edit your chosen map) -> Marker Filtering-> Select the checkbox of the fields you would like to filter.
Please ensure Custom field data has been added to your markers for the filter to work correctly
The Custom Field Filter can be used in conjunction with the other filtering options (Store locator and category filters)
